Why Marcus Mariota Deserves To Be In The Heisman Conversation

Oregon quaterback Marcus Mariota is having himself quite a season, although his name is nowhere to be found in the Heisman conversation.

As a redshirt freshman, Mariota has 28 passing touchdowns with just five interceptions, along with three scores on the ground.

In the desert on a Thursday night verses Arizona State, Mariota showed his running ability with a 86-yard touchdown run.

Last week when the Ducks took on the Golden Bears of California, Mariota threw for 377 yards and six touchdowns, both career highs.

Mariota not only sets up success for himself, but for his teammates as well.

Fellow teammates Kenjon Barner and DeAnthony Thomas have combined for 1,881 yards and 26 touchdowns in the ground game thanks to Mariota's ability to read opposing defenses.

Mariota also finds a way to get the ball into his recievers hands. Seven Ducks have at least 10 receptions this season.

He may not have flashy stats of the other Heisman candidates, but you can't ignore talent.
